You know, when I was studying for my psychology degree, in one class our professor asked why we picked psychology as our major. I got more than a few chuckles when I told the class that I was taking psychology because not only was I fascinated with it, but it would help me develop more realistic characters for my graphic novels. It may seem really silly, but I've actually worked out psychological profiles for all my characters. It helps me accurately and consistently predict their behavior in the various situations I'm placing them in and aids in their development/progression throughout the series, which is an aspect I find crucial to the creation of a good story.

With that in mind....

Aiden is having a psychogenic non-epileptic seizure (PNES). These seizures are a physical manifestation of psychological distress, triggered by distressing memories of his service in the war (reliving his struggles and failures). Everything is interconnected. His childhood traumas and the repression/denial of his sexual orientation contributed to his unstable mental condition growing up, exacerbated and magnified by his military service and the horrors of war, developing into full blown PTSD which is curbed by a cocktail of medications (from chapter 3).

There is a lot more I would like to say on the topic- but here are some links - a Wiki article that makes things super easy to understand, and an American Family Physician journal article which gets pretty in depth and was my primary source of research, since so much information was condensed in that space.

Thank you!

Aiden is definitely one of the worst as far as psychological wellness is concerned, but this generation of veterans are the few survivors of a civilization in constant conflict.

They're all a little emotionally unbalanced. XDD As the situations occur in the comic, I will detail more about the characters such as I have with this page :B

I actually used to chew my hair a lot as a child (from ages 4 until about 9 when my mom cut my hair too short and kept it that way long enough to break the habit).

Actually was the inspiration for Cillian's hair chewing problem XD Except no one can make him cut his hair. NO ONE he will run away parkour style and make faces at you

...can we please see this happening? I think I would die laughing if I saw Cillian do that!
I never chewed my hair, but the inside of my lip went through a bit when I was younger. But I think Cillian's habit of it is really enduring. That's the first thing I noticed about him; it makes him really interesting!
