The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Design Contest WIN 4000 POINTS, 20$ AND MORE!I've wanted to hold a design contest for a long time now, and finally I've gathered enough points to do it

What I'm looking for:
Everything! Wolves, foxes, fennec foxes, ferrets, servals, bobcats, tigers, other big cats, small cats, deers, dragons, gryphons, dogs, birds, hybrids, original species.. bring it!
I'm leaving the details to your imagination, but here are some things I really like:
-White base color with black and red markings<33 (mostly on canines)
-Cute and fluffy things! No need to go all big eyes and oversized heads, but animals with fur. Creepy and slimy things just aren't my thing.. Still don't be afraid to make something dark/evil
-Anything tribal
-Native american stuff
-Feathers!
-Tawny, golden, brown, white, red, blue, cyan, gray, black (well, not all combined)
-I like more natural base colors, but with smaller markings in unnatural colors like blue or red
-Long tails, big/long

Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you finally made the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean more quality to the paintings, am i right?.
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

2011 Convention Merchandise

So, I'm planning out merch for these upcoming conventions (see below, lol) and thought I would post up a journal to see what people are interested in.

I'm doing anime cons too, so I will be doing fanart as well.

I have planned for print versions of Volume 1 and Chapters 6 and 7 (1-6 available at Megacon, 7 by MoCCA).

My good friend Kelsey (also my AA partner) and I split a rad button making machine. I plan on making Macchina buttons (OF COURSE), but also considered budgies / birds (i love them), Dragon Age: Origins and Awakening, Harry Potter, Zodiac signs, Time-Skip One Piece, and maybe some stuff from my youth like Tenchi Muyo or Sailor Moon, SWAT Kats, Pirates of Dark Water, etc.

I'm also going to be making both horizontal and vertical badges, but the ideas are kind of interchangable with the buttons as far as content EXCEPT that I'll be definitely redoing my What's Your Ship? series for Harry Potter.

Stickers are also in the works (but I can't bring them to every convention) including a series of pin-up stickers kind of like the old Hook-Ups shirts you used to get from Pacific Sunwear when I was a kid, except more fantasy and such.

I have a bunch of leftover keychain parts I wanted to do something with.. maybe fat budgies?? Who knows!

I've also considered customizing the exterior of sketchbooks / journals and offering them for sale (like silkscreening onto Moleskines), silkscreened dice boxes (ie the felt inside is silkscreened - my friend and i made a set of these for our Exalted games) AND OF COURSE prints.

Anyways, so. uhh... long and short is that I am taking suggestions to incorporate into my 2011 cons! SO WHAT SAY YOU?

Gosh, Pirates of Dark Water... I remember that... Used to wake up early just to watch that. That's one of those very obscure things that I think people go "Wait, did that really exist?" It's like talking about Gobots.

Might you do any art or buttons of Slayers? Yuyu Hakusho? Rune Soldier?

Hahah I LOVED that show! XD I loved the story, the characters, the universe- I was totally bummbed when it was canned half-way through the story!

I watched the first 6 episodes of Slayers, none of Yuyu and Rune soldier XD I could perhaps get behind some Slayers, but I don't know much about the others!
